Rookie of the Year!

It is a great honor to have been selected “Rookie of the Year” by my fellow Republican legislators at the VTGOP Awards Night this past Thursday. I am truly humbled. 

We have a great freshman class this biennium, both Republicans and Democrats.  I put a lot of effort into communicating with my constituents and getting our freshman class to all work together since we represent nearly a third of the House. At the outset of the session we seemed to share many of the same concerns.

My Republican leadership was fully supportive of this activity, but we met strong resistance from Democrat leadership who attempted to thwart our joint efforts to work together as a whole freshman class to improve life for Vermonters. 

I owe great gratitude to our Chair, Rep. Pattie McCoy and my mentor Rep. Jim Harrison for their guidance and especially my wife Elaine.  This is a team sport and I couldn't do it without her.

I look forward to continuing to work hard toward unity and affordability for Vermonters when we get back together in Montpelier in January.
